What is a flying kite teaching us?

One day, a child asked his father, “Daddy! What is a successful life?”

The father didn’t answer that question directly, rather told, “Son! Let’s fly the kite in the sky, today”.
They went into an open field. Father started flying the kite. He was slowly releasing the string and in a short time, the kite was up in the sky. The child was attentively watching his father’s act. After a while, the father told his son, “see! How the kite is flying in the wind! Wouldn’t you think if this string were not here, the kite might go further up?”
The child nodded his head and agreed with his father. “If no string, it will go up and up”.
Father suddenly cut the string. The kite, at first went up somewhat, then started falling down and after a while disappeared.
The father then turned toward his son and told, “Listen, son! Whatever stage of success we are in our life, like the string of the kite, we think that something is preventing us from going to a higher position. In real life, this bondage is nothing but family, parents, children, close relatives which are acting as the string. Sometimes, we intend to ignore this bond, try to sever it and to go more higher position in our life, in perspective of worldly success. But like this kite (we) and string (bond), this bond keeps us in current position only and protects us from falling down. If we disconnect ourselves from such bond, we might be more successful initially. But ultimately, like the kite, we will fall down and disappear. The string attached to the ground helps the kite maintaining its position in the high sky. In a similar way, our family or social bonds help us to stay in our current position”.
